A. O. Smith Corp. confirmed that Kevin Wheeler, its executive chairman, will step down from his role on July 1. Chris Mapes, lead director, highlighted Wheeler’s contributions, noting the company’s strengthened portfolio and resilience during crises. Wheeler joined A. O. Smith in 1994 as a regional sales manager and held several leadership roles before becoming president and CEO in 2018 and chairman in 2020. His leadership during these years included overseeing the company’s strategic acquisitions, which expanded its product lines and market presence. Shafer, who has led the company since July 2025, will now serve as the 11th CEO in company history to hold both chairman and CEO titles.
