Ryobi has announced changes to its 18V One+ battery lineup, which may raise questions for Ryobi users. The company is simplifying its battery roster by rebranding its 18V batteries.
The changes aim to simplify the lineup, which currently includes standard batteries, High Performance-branded batteries, and High Performance EDGE-branded batteries.
New Ryobi 18V Batteries
Ryobi is reducing the number of battery types to two: 18V ONE+ Lithium and 18V ONE+ Lithium EDGE batteries. The High Performance designation will be replaced with a simpler 18V One+ Lithium marker.
The current standard-capacity batteries without the High Performance nomenclature will no longer be available. Ryobi says this change will deliver advanced performance technologies across its entire 18V span.
Features and Compatibility
Every 18V One+ battery will now feature Intellicell Electronics, which provides maximum performance and higher runtimes. The batteries will also have Cool-Core heat management for longer runtimes.
Your current 18V tools will still accept the newly-branded Ryobi batteries, and you can use your current battery arsenal in new One+ tools.
All 18V One+ batteries will be compatible with all 18V One+ tools.
Updated Battery Lineup
There are three updated 18V One+ Lithium batteries: 2.0Ah, 4.0Ah, and 6.0Ah. For Edge batteries, there’s a 4.0Ah, an 8.0Ah, and a 12.0Ah pack.

While prices for the new batteries are not yet available, it’s likely that the old stock batteries will be clearance-priced at Home Depot stores as they make room for the new arrivals.
As the new batteries roll out in August 2026, you may find good deals on older batteries if you’re looking to stock up on extra runtime and don’t mind the trade-offs of the older packs.
In a move similar to other companies simplifying their product lines, Ryobi’s decision to streamline its 18V battery lineup may make it easier for users to choose the right battery for their needs, although it remains to be seen how this will affect the overall cost and availability of the batteries.
The Intellicell Electronics feature, which has been present in the majority of Ryobi 18V batteries since around 2012, is designed to provide maximum performance and higher runtimes, even during demanding applications.
