Ed Sheeran owns a patchwork of homes that span the English countryside, the American South, and a handful of European hideaways, reflecting a blend of privacy, work needs and family life.
Rural Suffolk compound
After his 2012 debut, the singer-songwriter began buying land near his hometown of Framlingham in Suffolk. The first purchase was a $1.2 million farmhouse, followed by a $600,000 16th-century house next door.
In 2016 he added a four-bedroom farmhouse for $1.25 million and a $708,000 bungalow the next year. By 2019 the couple had acquired a fifth house, bringing the total cost of the five-building, 16-acre site to roughly $5 million.
The compound includes a treehouse, a pond, a chapel, and a crypt where the artist plans to be buried. A private pub was also installed inside a barn, accessed through a tunnel that houses a listening room and a movie theater.
“I bought an old pub off eBay,” he told host Alex Cooper on the podcast Call Her Daddy. “It’s less of a man cave and more of a man catacombs,” he added, noting the underground space lets his family avoid cameras.
Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn live there with their two children, using the estate as their primary residence.

American footholds
In February 2013 the artist moved to a lake house in Hendersonville, a suburb of Nashville. He said the town’s “very, very nice people” offered a break from paparazzi and reminded him of rural Suffolk.
During that stay he demoed 70 songs, aiming to release three albums in three years, a goal that preceded the 2014 Multiply and 2017 Divide releases.
Sheeran later returned to the United States, renting a $36,000-a-month condo in Brooklyn Heights in May 2023. The 3,200-square-foot triplex, located in the Pierhouse building, featured four bedrooms, picture windows and terraces with Manhattan views.
After a copyright trial that ended in his favor, the lease was relisted at $38,000 a month. By May 2025 he closed on an off-market $12 million purchase for a larger four-bedroom, 3,400-square-foot unit in the same building.
The Brooklyn pied-à-terre now serves as a semi-permanent base while the family tours internationally.
European retreats
In 2017 the musician added an Italian villa near the Umbrian village of Paciano. He chose the site for its vineyard and said he avoided Tuscany because “there are too many English people there.”
London entered the portfolio in 2018 when Sheeran bought an eight-bedroom, 8,300-square-foot house in Notting Hill for about $27 million. The property includes a movie theater, bar and swimming pool, and the singer reportedly owns the two neighboring homes for added privacy.

He also opened a nearby wine bar, Bertie Blossoms, in 2019. A two-bedroom beach house in Kent, built from a converted 1880s train carriage, was purchased for $879,000 in July 2022, offering Channel views through glass doors.
Comparing his pattern to other British stars shows a familiar trade-off: keep a strong home base at home while using overseas assets for work and leisure. The mix of a countryside estate and city apartments mirrors how many artists balance family stability with the demands of a global touring schedule.
Seaside expansion in Suffolk
In November 2025 reports indicated Sheeran bought two additional homes in a coastal village of his home county. The plan is to merge them into a single mansion with five or more bedrooms, a large family kitchen and a great room.
An anonymous source said the project aims to create “a gorgeous home for his wife and children” that fits the local aesthetic. The same source noted the artist’s heart remains in Suffolk despite spending significant time in the United States.
Sheeran has hinted at a possible permanent move to America during a September 2025 podcast, but later clarified the relocation was temporary, linked to an upcoming tour. In December he mentioned exploring a venue in his hometown to reduce travel for his family.
The treehouse is perched among mature oaks that provide shade, while the pond attracts local waterfowl, adding a natural soundtrack to the estate. Inside the underground pub, the listening room showcases Sheeran’s extensive movie memorabilia, turning the space into a personal museum. The chapel on the grounds is non-denominational, offering a quiet place for reflection that complements the nearby crypt designed for his future burial.

At the Hendersonville lake house, the songwriter set up a makeshift studio by the water’s edge, allowing the surrounding tranquility to shape the melodies of the 70 demos he recorded there. He has spoken about a long-term ambition to blend country influences into his catalog, viewing Nashville as the ideal environment to respect and explore that genre.
The Pierhouse condo’s terraces overlook the Brooklyn Bridge and East River, and the building’s celebrity-friendly reputation has attracted other high-profile residents such as Matt Damon and Amy Schumer, reinforcing its status as a sought-after address for entertainers.
The Italian villa’s vineyard produces a modest harvest each season, and its proximity to Paciano provides easy access to the village’s historic streets, which Sheeran has described as a perfect escape from the media spotlight.
Notting Hill’s eight-bedroom home also features a private garden that backs onto the neighboring properties, creating a secluded enclave within the busy London borough. The wine bar Bertie Blossoms, opened in 2019, serves as a community hub where the artist occasionally hosts intimate acoustic sessions.
The Kent beach house’s glass doors slide open to reveal sweeping views of the English Channel, and the interior’s open-plan layout blends the original train-car structure with contemporary design elements, making it a distinctive seaside retreat.
Plans for the coastal Suffolk mansion emphasize a “massive family kitchen at the back,” ensuring the space can accommodate large gatherings, while the great room will be finished with locally sourced timber to honor regional building traditions.
