Milwaukee recently introduced five new hand tools for outdoor striking tasks, marking its first expansion into this category beyond battery-powered equipment. The lineup includes two sledgehammers, a splitting axe, a splitting maul, and a pick mattock, each built for demanding jobsite conditions with features not previously offered by the brand.
Sledgehammers built for durability and control
The 8-pound and 10-pound sledgehammers are the largest Milwaukee has produced, featuring 36-inch handles. Both models use a SecureStrike connection to keep the striking heads firmly attached during heavy use. A ShockShield system reduces vibration, which the company states helps prevent fatigue during long demolition sessions.
Steel-reinforced fiberglass handles include an overstrike protection zone to minimize damage from missed swings. An anti-slip grip and tether hole improve safety for raised work. The 8-pound model sells for $99.98, while the 10-pound version is priced at $114.98.
Axes and mauls for wood splitting
The 36-inch Splitting Axe stands as the largest in Milwaukee’s current offerings. Its hollow handle design makes swings lighter and more balanced. Unlike the other tools, it uses a stainless-steel overstrike plate instead of fiberglass. The blade includes an anti-stick coating to stop wood debris from clinging, and a precision-beveled edge splits logs with fewer hits. A protective sheath comes with each unit.
The 36-inch Splitting Maul borrows features from the sledgehammers, such as the SecureStrike connection and ShockShield vibration reduction. Its 8-pound head also has an anti-stick coating, plus an anti-slip grip and tether-ready hole. The fiberglass overstrike plate helps prevent handle damage from off-center strikes.
These tools focus on reducing strain. The vibration dampening and secure connections allow longer work sessions without the usual discomfort. For those who split wood regularly, the difference in fatigue becomes clear after a few hours.

If you need to remove stubborn stumps after splitting logs, removing them can be simplified with the right methods.
A first for Milwaukee: the pick mattock
The pick mattock represents a new direction for the brand. It includes a 5-pound striking head for breaking soil, moving rocks, and clearing debris. The 36-inch handle shares the same SecureStrike and ShockShield technology as the other tools, along with a fiberglass overstrike plate.
All five tools emphasize vibration reduction and durability. The steel-reinforced fiberglass handles resist repeated impacts. Overstrike protection zones offer a practical benefit—missed swings are common, and replacing a handle costs less than replacing the entire tool.
The grips and tether holes indicate these tools are designed for professional use. Pricing reflects that positioning, targeting contractors rather than casual users. For those who depend on hand tools for demolition, landscaping, or firewood preparation, the improvements in vibration control and head security may make the investment worthwhile.
Milwaukee’s latest tools arrive as the company continues expanding its outdoor equipment range.
